Overview
A physical, integrated prototype of a Net-Zero Urban Home built on a university campus — combining renewable energy, circular water management and real-time data so learners can research, operate and replicate climate-adaptive housing.
The Living Lab for Planetary Health establishes a working Net-Zero Urban Home on a designated plot at the State University of Bangladesh. It cultivates the knowledge, skills and attitudes (KAS) learners need to design and advocate for a climate-resilient future.
Decentralised solar PV / biogas eliminates household emissions, while rainwater harvesting and wetland-based greywater recycling target a 40% reduction in water consumption. Everything is metered through an AuraServe EcoMeter dashboard for research, learning and demonstration.
Outputs include a Policy Brief and an open-access Replication Toolkit so other universities and communities across South Asia can copy the model. The pilot prioritises 50% female participation in the technical team.
